  The Journal of Planner and Development (JPD) is committed to ensuring the long-term preservation, accessibility, and availability of its published scholarly content. The journal recognizes that digital preservation is essential for maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record and for ensuring that published articles remain accessible to authors, readers, researchers, libraries, indexing services, and academic institutions over time.

  JPD seeks to preserve its published content through its official journal platform, issue archives, institutional digital repository where available, and relevant indexing, repository, or archiving systems. The journal aims to maintain reliable access to published articles, metadata, article files, and issue records.

  1. Purpose of the Policy

  The purpose of this policy is to define the journal’s approach to archiving and digital preservation. This policy supports the long-term accessibility, discoverability, and integrity of published content, including article metadata, full-text files, issue archives, and related publication records.

  2. Scope of Preservation

  JPD seeks to preserve the following materials:

  • Published article metadata, including title, author names, affiliations, abstract, keywords, volume, issue, pages, publication dates, article URL, and DOI if assigned in the future.
  • Final published article files, including PDF and any other official publication formats made available by the journal.
  • Issue archives, including current and previous issues published on the journal website.
  • Correction, clarification, expression of concern, retraction, or withdrawal notices where applicable.
  • Supplementary files associated with published articles, where available and where permitted by the journal’s policies.

  3. Journal Website and OJS Platform

  JPD maintains its published content through the journal’s official website and online journal management platform. Published articles and issue archives are made available through the journal website to support continued access, citation, retrieval, and scholarly use.

  The journal seeks to maintain the availability of article landing pages, bibliographic metadata, abstracts, downloadable article files, licensing information, and related publication details.

  4. Institutional Digital Repository

  Where available, JPD may preserve published content through the institutional digital repository of the University of Baghdad or other approved institutional archiving systems. Institutional archiving supports long-term access, academic visibility, and preservation of the journal’s scholarly record.

  The journal may deposit or link published articles, metadata, issue information, or other relevant records in institutional repositories according to institutional regulations, technical availability, and journal policy.

  5. Indexing and Archiving Systems

  JPD seeks to improve the discoverability and preservation of its published content through relevant indexing, repository, and archiving systems. Where applicable, the journal may provide article metadata, abstracts, article links, issue information, article URLs, and other bibliographic information to indexing and repository services.

  If DOI registration becomes available in the future, the journal may include DOI information in article metadata and indexing records. Inclusion in indexing, repository, or archiving systems depends on the technical requirements, eligibility criteria, and approval processes of each service.

  6. Persistent Identification and Metadata

  JPD seeks to maintain accurate and consistent bibliographic metadata for all published articles. Article metadata may include author names, affiliations, title, abstract, keywords, publication dates, volume, issue, page numbers, license information, citation details, article URL, and DOI if assigned in the future.

  At present, the journal relies on stable article landing pages and article URLs on the official JPD website to support citation, retrieval, linking, indexing, and long-term identification of published articles. If DOI registration is adopted in the future, DOI information will be incorporated into article metadata and publication records.

  7. Access to Archived Content

  Published articles remain accessible through the journal website and issue archives. Readers may read, download, copy, print, search, link to, and use published articles in accordance with the journal’s open access, copyright, and licensing policies.

  If changes are made to article records after publication, such as corrections, expressions of concern, retractions, or withdrawals, the journal will seek to preserve the transparency of the scholarly record by linking the relevant notice to the article record where applicable.

  8. Preservation of the Scholarly Record

  JPD is committed to preserving the integrity of the scholarly record. Published articles will not normally be removed from the journal website unless removal is required for legal, ethical, privacy, or security reasons.

  In cases involving corrections, retractions, withdrawals, or article removal, the journal will follow its Corrections, Retractions, and Withdrawal Policy. Where appropriate, bibliographic information and explanatory notices may remain available to preserve transparency and traceability.

  9. Backup and Technical Maintenance

  The journal seeks to maintain the technical reliability of its online content through regular platform maintenance, institutional technical support, and backup procedures where available. These measures aim to reduce the risk of data loss, broken links, inaccessible files, or loss of article metadata.

  Technical maintenance and backup procedures are handled according to the technical and institutional arrangements of the journal platform, the publisher, and the University of Baghdad.

  10. Author Self-Archiving

  Authors may deposit the published version of their articles in institutional repositories, academic profiles, personal websites, and scholarly databases, provided that proper citation is given to the original publication in JPD and that the use complies with the journal’s copyright and licensing policy.

  Authors should include the article title, author names, journal title, year of publication, volume and issue number where available, page numbers where available, and a link to the official article page on the JPD website. DOI information should be included only if it has been officially assigned in the future.

  11. Continuity of Access

  JPD seeks to ensure continued access to its published content in the event of website updates, platform changes, migration, or technical restructuring. The journal will make reasonable efforts to preserve article metadata, article files, issue archives, and links to published content during platform maintenance or migration.

  12. Relationship with Open Access and Licensing

  The journal’s archiving and digital preservation practices are connected to its open access, copyright, and licensing policies. Published articles are made available according to the journal’s licensing terms, and any reuse, distribution, or archiving must provide appropriate attribution to the author(s), article title, journal title, and original source.
